Hand FAQ

Question:

Do hand injuries frequently end the career of professional football players?

Answer:

Luckily for professional football players, according to the database kept by the National Football League, hand injuries don't usually end a player's career. Hand injuries include fractures, sprains, strains, overuse, and inflammatory injuries, most of which can heal well without too long a period of lost play. Nathan A. Hall, MD, et al. Upper Extremity Injuries in the National Football League. Part I: Hand and Digital Injuries. In Journal of Sports Medicine. October 2008. Vol. 36. No. 10. Pp. 1937-1944.
