Dr. Scott Rand Named Physician of the Year at Methodist Hospital
Nominated by Hospital Staff, Fellow Physicians and the Board of Trustees,
Dr. Rand is Recognized in a Ceremony at Raveneaux Country Club
Houston – Dr. Scott Rand, primary care sports medicine physician at Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Willowbrook, is named Physician of the Year 2011 as designated by hospital staff, fellow physicians and the hospital´s board of trustees. He was honored at a ceremony at the Raveneaux Country Club this past December.
Board certified in family medicine with certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) in sports medicine, Dr. Rand is also the director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine (PCSM) Fellowship – one of only two such programs in the greater Houston. He is an avid speaker and coauthor and editor of the recently published AMSSM (American Medical Society for Sports Medicine) Sports Medicine CAQ Study Guide.
Combining the disciplines of family and sports medicine to provide a unique Sports Health approach to medical care – Dr. Rand and his PCSM team focus on the overall health and nonoperative orthopedic care, as well as concussion management and routine medical care for athletes of all ages.
Dr. Rand is on the medical staff for the United States Women´s Gymnastics and USA Weightlifting. He acts as a consulting team physician for many area high schools, club sports and running groups – and is the physician member of the concussion oversight team for Magnolia ISD, Spring ISD, Klein ISD and Aldine ISD. He is also one of the team physicians for Rice University.
He received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and his Family Medicine training in the U.S. Navy.
