Dr. Scott Rand

Dr. Scott Rand is a primary care sports medicine (PCSM) physician who is board certified in Sports Medicine. He is the director of the PCSM Fellowship and the Methodist Human Performance Lab. He focuses on the overall care of both the endurance athlete and bariatric population - building individual plans specific to needs and goals. He is also a member of the Concussion Oversight Team for area schools and provides nonoperative orthopedic care to athletes and active people. Dr. Rand is recognized as a national leader in PCSM education and co-chairs an education testing subcommittee within the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He is also on the medical staff for United States Women's Gymnastics and USA Weightlifting. He acts as a consulting team physician for many area high schools, club sports, and running groups and is one of the team physicians for Rice University. Dr. Rand's full profile.

Mark Morrison, M.S.

Mark Morrison, MS, is senior exercise physiologist at Methodist Center for Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine responsible for the Human Performance Lab.

He works with endurance athletes to establish training prescriptions, conduct exercise testing protocols such as VO2 max and lactate threshold and assess their overall performance. He also works with the bariatric population who are scheduled for weight loss surgery by conducting resting metabolic rate testing and analyzing body composition. He holds a masters degree in exercise science from the University of Houston where he conducted research in exercise immunology and effect of age using trained cyclists and also lectured in exercise testing for special populations and coached tennis, strength training, soccer, spinning, aerobics and swimming. He also worked as an exercise physiologist in Scotland for four years working with the sedentary population and has over 12 years combined experience as a personal trainer, athlete, coach, exercise instructor and has competed in marathons and half marathons and is currently training for a triathlon.
